今天上班好累...
不多說，上照片...

0226 hedge

假期結束，無味垃圾話日記即將出現......

今天早上爬起來聽之前上課錄音的老方嘴砲，
背到了 contaminate 的類比:
(我上的那期從動詞開始教，就知道我進度有多慢 -.-)

hedge : loss = quarantine : contamination
to prevent loss : loss = to prevent contamination : contamination

我一直在那邊想...
hedge 這個字好像很眼熟，好像在哪看過，
老方則一直說這字是樹籬，有隔開的意思，
查了一下 m-w 名詞其中一個意思：
a fence or boundary formed by a dense row of shrubs or low trees，
嗯，這我懂，沒錯，樹籬笆...
另一個動詞的含意；
to protect oneself from losing or failing by a counterbalancing action: hedge a bet
嗯，有點感覺了，但還是想不起來...

終於，在洗臉的時候，我想起來了，
是避險 (對沖) 基金嘛...
hedge fund，這樣說我就很好記啦......:P

至於另一個 quarantine 也很好記，因為前幾天下載了一個天殺的含 adware 的電子書假檔，
害我用 anti-spyware 掃了半天，掃出一堆 adware，處理的動作就是 quarantine ...
(用英文版的好處，哈哈哈...)
我已經很久很久沒有中毒了耶，靠...

今天讀到了 Mr./Ms. Days 的 Apple經典廣告大集合，讓我也想來記一下我喜歡的廣告...
(其實更喜歡的是配樂 :P)
1. Apple 的 Think Different

真的是一大系列喔，有夠多，上次還看到英國版及日本版勒，
不過或許太新還不能算「經典」吧 :PPP

Web Video Channel

我想說的不是所謂 IPTV 或者 web TV，我沒想得那麼遠，我只是想聊聊，現在，
在網路上可以取得正版且免費的影片，他們還形成一種頻道的感覺，固定會有新片進貨...

我所知而且常看的有：
1. Google Video 的 engEDU，例如：
Barry Schwartz 的 The Paradox of Choice - Why More Is Less


2. YouTube 的 The New York Times，例如：
One Morning at Microsoft

(經典的 NYT's David Pogue on Windows Vista
居然搞什麼 Embedding disabled by request 只好放這片 :P)

3. YouTube 的 TEDTalks，例如：
TEDTalks: Barry Schwartz

(也是 Barry Schwartz，講的東西差不多，
不過在 engEDU 花了一小時多，在 TED Talks 只花二十分 :P)

TEDTalks: David Pogue

(又是 David Pogue 大叔，又是在取笑 Microsoft...:P)

4. YouTube 的 CBS，例如：
Microsoft's Vista Copies Apple OS?

(依然是 David Pogue 大叔，依然在嘲諷 Microsoft)
(這部其實就是經典的 David Pogue on Windows Vista，表情語氣較不機車版 XD)
(在 YouTube 上的相同影片不給 embed，這裡還不是講一樣 XD)


5. YouTube 的 Google (我沒打錯，你沒看錯 :P)，例如：

這是我常看的幾個網路頻道，你呢？ :P

附帶一提，
YouTube 提供了 subscription 功能，可以專門訂閱某個使用者，
我得承認，我還訂了 dodolook 及 mydodolook ...
而 Google Video 提供了 recommendations，會根據 search history 推薦你可能會想看的 video，
(到現在為止，他推薦的都還蠻準的 :P)
另外 Google Video 其實可以用 RSS 訂閱，就只要在 query URL 後加上 output=RSS，像這樣：
http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=google+engedu&page=1&lv=0&so=1&output=rss

不記得 dodolook 是誰？
